These powerful winged beauties were a wonder to find, they come as a reminder of our own ability to fly above the obstacles of life, giving us hope for the future. Pegasus was an immortal winged horse, one of the two children of Poseidon and Medusa. Pegasus could fly and also had many supernatural powers. He could pass between the mortal and immortal realm. His wings clapped like thunder if he was angry. The winged horse was born from the liaison of the sea-god Poseidon and the beautiful Medusa. The liaison made the goddess Athena angry, and she cursed Medusa to be ugly and deadly. When she was killed, Pegasus sprang from her neck. From his birth to his death, Pegasus remained a mysterious creature capable of everything, symbolizing the divine inspiration or the journey to heaven, since riding him was synonymous to “flying” to the heavens. Pegasus was represented as a goodhearted, gentle creature, somewhat naive but always eager to help.
According to legend, wherever the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring spring burst forth. He was truly a water diviner; the Spring on Mount Helicon was created by Pegasus! Pegasus carried thunderbolts for Zeus. For his service and loyalty, Zeus honored him with a special immortality turning Pegasus into a constellation on the last day of his life. Because Pegasus was a land animal who could fly, he represents the ability for human beings to imagine a world that is more magical than everyday life. he is a powerful symbol for liberty, limitless imagination and inspiration. According to the legends, Pegasus was raised by the Muses at Mount Helicon. The Muses were goddesses who ruled the arts and sciences. Pegasus had a special relationship with Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. According to the story, it was Athena who had the power to tame Pegasus.
